Default Unable to record audio

Hello everyone,
I am using Pro Tools Intro on MacOs Monterey and when I try to record an audio track I get the annoying message "Unable to create record files for one or more tracks. Check your disk allocation and drive permissions." If anybody knows what to do I would be thankful. I already granted full disk permission to pro tools.

As the error message states, you need to make sure the correct path is set in the Disk Allocation tab within the setup menu.

Set it to wherever you want to record to and carry on. If its set to an external drive and thats not mounted, thats more than likely your problem.

Go to workspace and set your external drive to record mode.

No. Thats not what it means.

I’m not sure how to explain it simpler than I have. There is a disk allocation setting in Pro Tools and you need to make sure it is set to the correct drive you’re trying to record to.

Perhaps this will spell it out clearer for you?

Step 1. If it's a newly purchased external drive, always make sure it's formatted correctly. If it's not, do that first using Disk Utility. see Avid's instructions : https://avid.secure.force.com/pkb/ar...with-Pro-Tools

do you mean you're booting from an external SSD ? and you're also trying to use that boot drive as a Record Volume on the top-level of the drive (as opposed to creating a session on the current user/desktop) ?

Yes I'm booting from external ssd (apfs). I checked all the permissions for disk allocation . I searched for similar topics and someone stated that it works only with internal hard drive. Thanks anyway.

yes, but where precisely are you trying to actually create the session ?
on your Desktop ? or on the top level of the "Macintosh HD" ?

If it's your Desktop, try launching Disk Utility, run First Aid on the boot SSD, restart.
Re-check Workspace permissions.
Try again.
