Default Mac OS X \'Tiger\' compatibility information.

The initial release of Pro Tools LE 6.9 will not work with the new Mac OS X version 10.4 "Tiger" operating system.

* A free compatibility update for Pro Tools LE 6.9 for Mac OS X 10.4 is expected to be available within 8 to 10 weeks of the 10.4 "Tiger" release.

Currently there is not a version of Pro Tools that will work with OS X 'Tiger'. You should not install Tiger if you would like to use Pro Tools, as it will not work until we post an update to 6.9. No previous version of Pro Tools will be updated for compatibility with Tiger.

Pro Tools 6.4.1 for Mix systems and Pro Tools LE 6.4 for Digi001 will not be updated for compatibility with Tiger. Owners of these systems will need to run them in Panther to continue using those systems.

there is no more digi001 since version 6.4 of PTLE which will be limited to OSX 10.3.x--so what is your point?

I think, perhaps, his point was that you could run the newest version of 10.3 with PT 6.4 and a 001 and now if you want to use a 001 with your system you cannot upgrade your computer's operating system to the most current version and that sucks.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

What about having an external firewire drive (for an Imac G5) or and secondary drive (in a Power Mac G5) with the older os 10.3X installed and at boot up you can choose either the new 10.4 on the system or the older os on the other drive?

Would that work?

You could use an external Drive as long as it's bootable. Or a second internal Hard Drive. Or if your main Hard Drive is big enough you could partition it. One booting Panther one Tiger. But not on an IMac G5, if your using a Digi 001. For the 001 you need a 5.0V PCI slot I believe. Imacs don't have PCI Slots. The new Power Mac G5's only support 3.3V PCI Cards. If you have an older Power Mac G4 (Not G3 or below) you can. They supported 3.3V, 5V, and 12V PCI cards.

I just installed Tiger and Protools 6.4. Will this work? I am getting the error "mbox is in use by another application" yet there are no other apps running.

Nope no other questions. Would not have had a question if the post would have been that clear in the first place. And why cry about 001 support when its already a legacy product?

I wouldn't count on anything less than 6.9 being supported by Tiger since Digi has already pointed out that there will be a special update/version of 6.9 for Tiger. So I guess all systems that needed 6.4--001 and Mix will be left using 10.3.9 or less.
