Default Click sounds way bad

Hello!

The digidesign click plugin sounds horrible and nothin like what a click should, I get a very distorted sound. I read on another post bout the same issue, but could not locate the problem.

Here is a sample of the sounds im getting, im changing the click sound every bar or so...

Click Sample

Now, im currently running PT of my laptop, an AMD Turion64. Hp nx6115... Not supported, but mostly runs fine, not as fast a my other host though.

Thanks for the help!

Cheers!

No, that's how the click ought to sound.

What sound did you have in mind?

Did u hear the file i uploaded ? And if u did.. then u are kidding right ?

Well a clean cowbell for a start, or a clean woodblock, or a digital click like the one the steinberg products have ?

Cheers!

Well of course I listened to it. It does sound like you're clipping a bit, does adjusting the output on the plug help? And yes, I'm aware the sounds are less than desirable. Perhaps in a future update we'll get better sounds; a quick search reveals there's been no shortage of complaints.

I don't hear a heavy distortion; I hear brightness, and a slight distortion (maybe because the default output setting is too hot).

Bright clicks tend to bleed, so I insert an EQ with a LPF set to around 3kHz to warm up the tone. You could also print some clicks, pitch-shift them up or down, and then create your own "click tracks" in various time signatures to import to any future session. Or use the click samples from another DAW, or use BFD, or record a cowbell or shaker, or whatever.

I guess I don't see it as such a huge deal. I mean, I know PT hardware is expensive, but I play regularly to a variety of clicks all the time, and I couldn't care less what they sound like, so long as they don't bleed and I'm locking in.

oh ok.. im sorry...

Well its not distorting, and the output is ok and all... the issue is that they all sound like 8bit very low res samples...

If this is how the click sounds are.. well too bad.. i just manually make one..

I was under the impression that my click plug was not working like it should...

thanks a ton!

Cheers!

That's how the click is meant to sound.

You can change it though. I also use the cowbell.

Look on the click plugin window where it says <factory default> and click it. You'll get a flyout with about 10 different click sounds.
