Default Video monitor with HD2

Can anyone tell me the easiest way to get the movie I'm working on in Pro Tools out to an external video monitor? can I just buy a pci video card??? Or do i have to pay Digi for their stuff?

I've got a G5 Dual 2.0 (pci-x) with HD2 (1 slot available)

Thanks, chpaudio

Well I do not know the specifics of your system, but I have a dual 2ghz, and I use the Apple video adaptor- for my movie monitor- it iascosts around 50 bucks.

Thanks.

I will look into both. When I have a QT playing in Pro tools, will it automatically play out of the Canopus?

the canopus is an ok solution ... looks ok, inexpensive ... however ... it has bad latency, and terrible scrubbing ... and only plays DV ...

on the other hand, the auora FUSE-X is a tiny bit more than the canopus, but will play ANY codec, has very low latecny, and scrubs well...

i'd say look at Charles's solution or an aurora FUSE-X.

my 2¢

Thanks.

I'll look at it too. This video thing is driving me crazy... and I am going to have to add Final Cut Pro to the same machine! The Aurora site says the X card is cool with FCP... so maybe it will work out. Audio only is soooo much easier!
