Anyone know which prefs relate to what?

Hi,

Would like to know which prefs are related to what settings and preferences in PT etc.

DAE prefs=

Com.Digidesign.pro tools.Plist=

DigiSetup.OSX=


Anyone know?

Ideally i would like to trash plugins cache without losing all my other prefs for HW setup/ keyboard shortcuts/ plugin favourites maybe?

Hi, Chris. I've always wondered about this, too. It would be good to know. Now I don't feel so bad when I see someone of your caliber asking, too. :)

For me they equate to:
DAE prefs= Plug-ins (just trash this for Plug-in rebuild)

Com.Digidesign.pro tools.Plist=Mac OS made Keyboard shortcuts (Back this up if you make Mac keyboard shortcuts)

DigiSetup.OSX=Hardware I/O

Thats what i thought, but i just reverted back to saved prefs and the keyboard shortcuts were lost! i guess they are saved in the apple prefs somewhere, but somehow get zapped when PT prefs are trashed.

Its the keyboard shortcuts/plugin favourites/ and hardware setup that takes me time to restore. i'm really looking at saving some time when i have to trash prefs! which is quite often when i'm troubleshooting a problem.

ProTools Pre and Database helper's Backup (If this is what your using) hasn't worked for a while.
(It Works for deleting)
I manually pull my pref / plist then delete.
I have version 2.3rc2 PTPDH

From their website if this sheds some light.

Known issues:
There can be more than one of these files:
Pro Tools xxx Preferences
com.digidesign.ProToolsxx.plist
com.apple.MIDI.xxxx.plist (in the By Host folder)
If it's the casse they will not be deleted, backed up or restored.
You will have to clean up manually.

Hi,

Well it did restore the prefs, but i still lost keyboard shortcuts and plugin default presets and plugin favorites etc.


I'll do some testing on my laptop during the hols and find out exactly what gets zapped with each pref.
