Default Bounced WAV files won\'t play in Windows Media Player 11

Hi,
When I Bounce to disk (which works fine), the resultant WAV file will not play in Windows media player 11. I am told by media player that a "codec" is required. Does anyone have information on what that codec is and where I can get it? If I create a CD with the bounced WAV file(s), they play fine on any CD player, including with Windows Media Player 11 on the same computer that generated the original WAV files.

Strange...
Thanks in advance,
Doug Haining

Sounds like you might have bounced them at 24-bit? (though I'm not sure how you would burn a CD with those). Media Player can't play 24-bit files.

Yes, I guess I did. I am using Nero to burn to CD, so maybe that product converts to 16 bit on the way to the CD.

What is the purpose of bouncing to different resolutions, i.e., when would you want to you 8 vs. 16 vs. 24 bit?

Thanks,
Doug
