how to paste a clip at identical time marker as original
With PT in slip mode, how do you paste a copied clip at the identical start time as the original clip?

Re: how to paste a clip at identical time marker as original
I guess I need to explain more. Say you've got a clip in the middle of a track (slip mode) and you copy the clip, create another track, and want to paste that clip into the same time location as the original. If you just copy and paste into the new track, it isn't pasting at the same start point as the original. How do you get it to come out in the right position without dragging it sideways and guessing?
Or, if you want to drag a clip to another track but in the same time position, how do you do that in slip mode?

Re: how to paste a clip at identical time marker as original
What wwittman described does indeed work to do exactly what you want, but just needs a few more steps. Create a new audio track with same number of channels(mono, stereo, surround) and drag&drop the new clip onto this blank track(anywhere in the timeline, it won't matter). When you drop the clip, highlight it and hit Ctrl-X, which will cut(disappear) and copy to the "clipboard". NOW, click to highlight the clip you wish to replace, and hit Ctrl-V, which will paste it exactly where the original clip started. You will likely figure out some shortcuts to this, I just wanted to give you enough info to dive back in.
Another method would be to highlight the clip you want to replace and copy the start time, then use SPOT mode to paste the new clip at the same starting point.

Re: how to paste a clip at identical time marker as original
Thank you! I also just played around with pulling the selection down, duplicating it, and dragging the duplicate back to top, and snap to next. This is getting fun now

And this should do it also : select the clip , C for copy , click the other track name (timeline stays, just the other track is selected) , V for paste.

Re: how to paste a clip at identical time marker as original
Why create a new track and paste the clip into it? Just copy the track; the clip comes with it.

I said that in the name of being more fool-proof than efficient. Copying a track isn't always an option. Once the OP is able to perform what he NEEDS, I bet he will figure out a few ways of being more efficient
