Default Lion Compatibility

So there is a PT9 beta version that will work with Lion. Will they be creating a patch for PT8 to work with Lion, or do I have to "cross grade" for $349 before I can use Pro Tools on my Lion system?

(And why do M-Audio users get charged $100 more than LE users to do the cross grade? It does not seem fair to me to be penalized for having bough an M-Audio product instead of an Avid product.)

There will not be a version of PT8 officially compatible with Lion.

M-Audio IS Avid. PT M-Powered is slightly more stripped down than LE was, so it is more of an upgrade to PT9, and therefore worth more. It was a decision based on value of the software. It's still a lot cheaper than $599. Alternatively, you could upgrade to M-Powered 9, for $149. It's lacking the same track counts and is still tied to M-Audio hardware... but it is qualified for Lion and future OS updates.
