Re: iPad battery drain with wifi and Avid Control
I’m not getting this issue but my iPad/Avid Control isn’t connected via WiFi. It’s hardwired to the Mac with a Lightning to Ethernet adapter which has a Lightning pass thru connector for power. Works great.

I feel pretty shure this is a solid solution; turn off 'background updating' in settings, and do a 'hard restart'. Christopher (Southside), let me know if it works for you guys. I installed Control again just now.

But I really like to have the iPad wireless.
