Default firmware update backward compatible?

hi, I'm mid project(s) on a 2012 mac mini- running PT11 and ECON 3.7

its struggling a bit, altho I think I can make it thru,

but I just scored a 2nd hand 2018 6 core and have installed ultimnate on it, as well as EUCON 2021.10.1.29

looking like I got everything going on there plugs etc.

tempted to take the plunge - but to go for it - i need update the firmware on the my artist mix and control.

is that a one way journey?

Not sure if PT11 and EUCON 2021 work together

the EUCON info says somewhat vaguely

"DAW Compatibility
Whilst earlier versions will work, Avid recommends using latest DAW versions.

Avid Pro Tools and Pro Tools | Ultimate 2019.10 or later"

PT11 will work but there may be bugs....but going from 3.7 to the latest EUCON will get you so much more. Firmware is down gradable but you likely wont need to as its independent of the software.
