Default Pro Tools keeps freezing (Not Responding) every few seconds

Hi, I bought Pro Tools 12 (student discount) last week. I managed to have no problems during the first two days. After that, my Pro Tools keeps freezing (Not Responding) for a good 10 seconds, every 30 seconds or so. I reinstalled Pro Tools, but it didn't work. I also tried creating a new project (to see if it was only this project that freezed), same problem.

Any time something freezes on a regular timed basis, look for something running in the back ground that might be "phoning home". Also try killing your internet connection while running PT

Disable Time Machine, or use TimeMachineEditor to schedule backups outside of work hours.

If he's on Mac, that is.

Lately I am having the same problem. Just a little freeze here and there over the course of a session. Very frustrating. I thought it was for having a big session (around 500 tracks) but then with sessions of 10 tracks or less, is the same.

I am having the same thing. It just hangs once every few minutes.
I don't have time machine enabled. I am on an M1 Mac, latest Big Sur.

The first place I'd look is a graphics issue, especially if you have two (or more) screens connected. ProTools is very poorly optimized for graphics, and runs best on display resolutions of 1080p or below. If you computer is running Intel graphics (Iris Pro, etc.) you're probably going to experience major issues such as the ones you describe.

The first line of troubleshooting is to go into display prefs and choose a scaled option at 1080p and see if this resolves the issue.

You'll experience these issues the most when connecting displays of different resolutions.

Just some sugguestions...

Do you get the spinning beach ball when it freezes? Or is it a complete graphical stall?
