Default Pro Tools 7.2 & Reason 3.X

Seems that every time I open a 7.2 PT session that has Reason instances in it, when Rewire opens reason, I keep getting the message "Reason Engine can't be found" and to reinstall Reason. If I keep the PT session open and manually start Reason, everything is OK. I have reinstalled Reason at least three times and still have the problem.
Is this a Reason/Rewire bug or PT. Perhaps the Reason engine is not being installed in the correct place?
Most of these sessions were originally done in PT 6.4.1 MIX with Reason 2.5. Have not made a new session in PT with
Reason to see if there is a difference.
Anyone else having this problem or have a suggestion?

Steve

Do you have "Read and write" permissions on the ReWire folder (Library > Application support > Propellerheads software)?

Will have to check that...
Does that enable Rewire to properly start Reason?

Try getting the Reason 3.0.5 update, it's not just for Mactels, it has some other improvements too.

Thanks, will do that.
Do you think it has anything to do with having original sessions done with Reason 2.5.

"Do you have "Read and write" permissions on the ReWire folder (Library > Application support > Propellerheads software)? "

It was only set to "read"...changed to Read & Write and this seems to have fixed it.
I also did the 3.05 upgrade.

Thanks for your help!! Now I can get back to work

Relating to this....something I've been experiencing for a while during any PT session where there are rewire slaves (Reason, Melodyne, etc.):

If I stop playback in a session, the rewire slaves jump to the beginning of the session and begin to playback....the transport in PT remains stopped and no audio from any regions in the session playback but if I go to view the Reason song the transport is humming along in the rewired app only and transmitting sound through the PT mixer. After I hit the space bar several times, playback of PT and the slave to seem stop as they should.

This occurs about 50% of the time. Anyone else experiencing this annoyance?

have reinstalled both PT and rewired slaves to no avail:

PT 7.1cs10 HD
HD3 Accel
Reason 3.0.5
OS 10.4.6
G5 Dual 2.5Ghz
4.5 Ghz RAM

In my experience this issue has to do with CPU usage. The more you strain the CPU, the more problems you'll have with the rewire/bridge apps.

You could try to increase H/W buffer size in the Playback engine, or print tracks to free up resources.

Question:

I have just upgraded from Adapted to Reason 3.0. I am still waiting for the License # to be sent to me via email from Propellerhead.
I also just downloaded the Reason 3.0.5 upgrade from the web site.

The 3.0.5 instructions say:
"To install Reason drag this folder to your hard disc"
  • Do I replace the old Reason File in the Applications folder?
  • Should I wait to get the license # from Propellerhead and authorize 3.0 first?
  • Can I just launce the new 3.0.5 and authorize it when I get the license #?
  • Does 3.0.5 point to 3.0 or is is stand alone?
  • Does anyone know how long it takes to get the License # from Propellerhead??
