How does the upgrade process work?

I have never upgraded before so excuse me if this is a stupid question. How does the upgrade work? I have the PT10 license on my ilok account. Pro Tools 11 requires the new ilok. So how exactly do I provide documentation of my PT10 license to get PT11 at the upgrade cost?

Hi,

I guess as long as your PT10 license is on the a ilok and is connected when you download the new ilok auth for PT11/10 license you'll be ok. the ilok site will first check you have the PT10 auth and are qualified to receive the upgrade version then it will likely remove the old PT10 license then deposit the new combined PT11/10 license.

There's actually an easier way. Buy a new Ilok 2, then transfer your PT10 license from your old Ilok to the new Ilok within your account (no fee for this).

Then, buy the upgrade and it will automatically surrender the old one and provide the new one when you download it to the new Ilok. It will also give you the sub-license for 10 so you can keep using it.

I have the student edition (I got it before they added the upgrade charges) and I was wondering when can we expect to see the changes on our iLok account? Or is that still to be determined?

Go to store.avid.com and purchase the upgrade. Your iLok will have updated license which you need to download to the key of your choice. Then you wait for release date and download PT11
