Default activate.adobe.com every 30 seconds in Protools????

As an IT engineer as well as Audio, i took a bit of time to track the reason for Protools hanging every 30 seconds.

Using procmon, I noticed TCPCopy and Recieve/Send/Disconnect processes running to activate.adobe.com using very high ports (61000 and above).

This may be the cause of the dreaded problem that so far the only 2 solutions that work are:
  • Complete system reinstall.
Stay offline with a physical ilok.

First question I have is, what the hell is adobe trying to activate?
I have no application on my machine made by Adobe.

Any thoughts?

Hi, welcome to the community.

Are you sure it is PT that isphoning Adobe? I mean, activity starts by launching PT and ends by killing PT? Which software you used to find out?

I tried using Creative Cloud for a short while, but deleted it. CC was continuously checking the cloud and updating things I really didn’t need at the time.

Which version of Pro Tools are you running? I fired up the latest version on my system and there are no calls to Adobe being made.
Does this happen as soon as you start PT or only after doing something specific?

It's the latest version of PT, I load up any track and try to play it through and the same thing happens.

As soon as I disconnect the internet, it stops, and protools works super smooth.

Firewall blocking the whole app doesn't work.

I think if the network is "up" it will try regardless.

Latest version, and seems to happen regardless of which session is open.

I have Adobe applications installed, and after any install/update of Adobe software, I see to it that Creative Cloud does not launch at startup (in 'startup items', sys settings), and in Activity monitor I kill any process w/adobe in the name. Then I go thru 'Launchdeamons' and 'LaunchAgents' folders in my Library folder, and remove anything adobe (some start w/'com.adobe…' in the name). Restart and double check in Activitymonitor that nothing Adobe is running.
Photoshop and Lightroom/LightroomClassic runs fine without complaints.
