What MIDI USB I/O boxes do Digi recommend.

Maybe any MIDI i/o will do?

Or are none of them really good enough?

I strongly recommend anything from MOTU or even Emagic. Midiman is another choice but yes, pretty much anything will work just fine.

In the end I decided to spend as little as possible and just get some MIDI happening and keep an eye on the market for later on.

I got the Edirol UM-1.

Works fine.
