1st time posting, LONG-time user of protools... just small questions to cure my curiosity. Ohh and I run a M-box, with Protools LE 6.1. I’ve noticed sometimes out of nowhere while recording I get a whole bunch of static along with what I have just recorded. Usually vocals. But like out of nowhere static will be mixed in with the vocals. Every time the vocals get loud the static gets loud. I’ve noticed if I just restart Protools it goes away. I sort of wonder if its due to the tracks being too loud (other tracks not the mic source) and the overall level is clipping and effecting my recording at that time, cause I have tried turning things down just incase. but like i said it seems to go away by just restart Protools. N E ideas?
Another occasional thing I’ve noticed... is when I bounce a session... sometimes there’s like a split second of loud static, like full on TV static, at the very end of the bounce. It happens every now and then. Actually this one time, at the very end was a second of a song I had recorded 2 days ago. I kid you not. The vocal from another song magically appeared for 1 second at the very end of my bounced file, so when I played the bounce file back I heard it. N e ways I basically fixed the problem by dragging the highlight of the project a lil’ further out past the end of the song. That way there is a few seconds of silence before the static at the very end, and then I just chop it off with sound forge... n e ideas on how I can rid my self of these lil' problems? There not to important I mean it’s not like I don’t work my way around them but if I’m missing something please let me know. Thank you for your time. |

first of all, update to v6.4 with all the service packs.
This should clear up the noise bursts. Second, Welcome to the DUC. Third, you might also need a power USB hub to get rid of the occational noise being recorded. ...others will have more things to check out but this is what I've gleened so far about these MBox problems. Personally, I gave up on the MBox. Nothing worse than being in the middle of a great performance and having the system fail. It is impossible to simple get back into the same groove after that.

Like mentioned before, these things aren’t too big of a deal, I was just curious what causes them, so when I’m recording I can actually give a reason to why it does it, instead of just being like “oh I don’t know.” If n e others have any ideas, feel free to share. These are the only problems I have had with M-box. Then again I have only used M-box for a year and a month. Believe me it was kind of strange to go from digi 888 to an M-box. Thanks for your time “SimpleNatureSpirit.” N e one else got idea?
