I do have a G4 400 though. And Doc, you were right on when you suggested it may have come after disabling some extensions recently. I just slimmed them down last week. I really hope Im not about to lose everything, as ajazzie suggested. That would suck beyond belief. Ill check my extensions for any STF stuff.

Well... let me see...

If you have this problem in any application like SoundJam,Peak,Logic,iTune... then I can say something keep running on your OS in background.

I had this problem with G4 400 and OS 9.0.4, and desabled STF stuff fixed the problem.
(*Global village stuff with USB modem did not cause the problem.)

1.Norton AntiVirus never give me any problem but I heard many people have. Maybe???
How about you? Have you installed?

2. Uncheck " Use a Network Time Server " of Date & Time control panel?
This also never give me problem but...

3. Desable all Norton extensions except Norton Shared Lib.

Or you might have something I don't know.

Is this a problem of only ProTools?
