You can't do it. The headphone outs on the front panel of the digi 003 are mirror images of what goes to the monitors. If you wanted to create custom headphone mixes you would need:

1. A head phone amp connected to outputs of the digi 003. I like to use out 7/8.

2. In pro Tools create sends out of interface 7/8 of just the drum tracks and the click. Adjust the volume of the click and drums via the send fader.

ajastudios , thats kind of weak?, mirror, you think digi might of thought that we would be using headphone amps anyways right?, and naturally make the second headphone out for separate mix, oh well, so do i have to use 2 1/4inch cables than bring them into one stereo jack to the headphone amp, or can it be 1 trs balanced off of one of the outputs 7 or 8?/ thank you for your time bud

Most professional headphone amps have a left and right in... so you would need a left and right out of 7/8 into the inputs of the head phone amp! Yeah well digi is digi they are weird man.

A much more elegant solution(if you don't mind spending 100 bucks); get a Behringer HA4700 headphone amp. You can feed the main stereo mix into the main inputs(so everyone hears the main mix) and then feed some separate sends from the 003 analog outputs to each of the 4 sections of the HA4700 so you can feed extras(like a click track) to each of the 4 sections separately. It also works good for "more me" to any section/player. The aux input of each section(of the HA4700) is a stereo jack but you can build special cables to feed a mono signal.

i honestly thought right off the the get go that the extra headphone amp was for that separate mix?, wow what a concept huh, i have rolls, and it's a trs one input so i will have to go out of the digi 2 1/4 inch into 1 stereo out into the rolls. thank guys.
