SOP is to Solo Safe Aux tracks
your using an Aux as a sub group and you want to solo the group?
look as making a custom Solo Automation group and/or VCA group

Yes, if I want to send all drum tracks to AUX 1 bus I selected all tracks and assigned their output to AUX 1, but when I solo AUX 1 I get no audio, but I can control overall level of that bus

What am I doing wrong?

Look in the Ref guide for solo safe.

Hold Cmnd and click the solo button on the aux. That will make it sort of gray. When you wish to solo something assigned to tha aux, you will be able to hear it. If you have a number of tracks assigned to that aux that you wish to solo, group them.

Here's where to vote for Avid to add the feature that automatically solos all source tracks when an Aux is soloed.

How do you then solo that aux track?

Say you have 7 parts of a drum kit
4 guitar parts
2 vocals
2 bass

You send all these to 4 separate aux tracks. How do you just hear the drums?

I know you can for example group all the drums and enable the link for the solos. But then say I want to hide the drums. If they are hidden the solo link no longer works.

Ctrl-click on a solo button to solo-safe. Same trick on a mute button will mute-safe a track. Same trick on a record button will prevent you from accidentally enabling record on a track. So many tricks...so little time

Try this; mute-safe the audio tracks that are feeding your aux track.
