Default A good mixing console for around $6000.

Curious for opinions on a good mixing console for around $6,000. Currently using Mackie 32*8, not that happy with it (i've had it for years). Looked at soundcraft ghost, looked at Trident 8t, trying to find some others. Using protools 6.9 with the 002r running 18in/out. Looking for Something in the 24-32 channel area.

any idea's would be great. please don't say behringer, i'll find you.

Yamaha DM1000?

If you are using PT LE, you have to run your audio through your 002R, which means you are limited to 18 I/O. The DM1000 will let your use it's mic pres and onboard EQs, compressors, et al while tracking as well as the sixteen faders and transport, jog wheel, etc.. as a Protools control surface.

You might also be able to find a used 02R96, for a little more (new they're about 9-10 grand).

I'm using a Yamaha 01V96, the baby brother to the other two I mentioned, and I love it.

Sorry, forgot to mention, i'm not looking for a digital board. Something along the lines of a Ghost LE or the Mackie 32*8. i got plenty of outboard gear (EQ's, comps, preamps). I don't really use the digi plugins that much . Well, besides vocal align and sound replacer, you know, i don't use any off the digi comps or eq's

Oh, well, in that price range, you should be able to get a Midas Venice, only 24 channels though, but probably sound a lot better than a Mackie.

Though you might want to check out the New Onyx line from Mackie. Allen and Heath GL 2400, 2800 should get you some good sounds. I don't really care for A&H myself, they make good stuff, just hacked me off with some CS stuff. I'd take Soundcraft over A&H anytime.

Any reason in particular you don't want digital? Fader automation is a very cool thing.
