Hey Alan,

It's been a while since I've used a 3500 but I remember loving the sound. I've used a Mackie 32X8 for the last 6 or so years but I can't remember ever saying I love what I can get out of it. If your gonna do most eq'ing in PTs, as long as the board gives you a clean (uncoloured) signal, either one will probably be good. If memory serves, the 3500 has mini faders for the monitor mix, is that right? If so, I'd lean towards that. I think the hook up choices are only subtley different.

Your biggest problem would be if you use the board to mix, you won't be able to recall the eq settings.

You'll have alot of hook up choices even when you DO decide!!

Good luck!

Ter

I like the sound of mine. I can take 16 discrete outs from pro tools and sum using the board.
It is an inline console and the 32 small faders can be flipped with the 32 big faders.
Keep in mind this board is primarily unbalanced. All of the direct outs, line inputs, and tape
inputs are unbalanced. A balancing kit was available for each group of 8 channels but hard to find today. I have troubles with noise that I have not been able to resolve, although the power to my room is less than ideal.
