Default Protools Restarts Computer

hi, i have searched the forum and found some people that have had the same problem as me and i tried what they done but doesnt work .. well anyway .. i have pro tools 6.4 with digi 001..i use to have a intel pentium 4 processor and a pt880 neo mother board socks 478 and it worked perfectly fine... well my mother board fried and i had to get a new one well they dont make socket 478 boards no more so i had to update and get a 939 socket .. which is a amd 64 processor and a gigabyte technology k8 trition series mother board .. well i had to re install windows xp pro sp2 and all the sudden pro tools will not run .. the digi 001 powers on and when i go to desktop to put digi 001 as main and play a mp3 in windows media player is plays i hear sound out of the digi but when i go to the pro tools icon to load it up it restarts my computer .. i need some help please thanks alot


stats of what i have


Processor : AMD Athlon 64 3800+ Socket 939
Mother Board : Gigabyte Technology K8 Trition Series
Stats : 2.41 GHz, 512MB Of Ram

it also says dual core processor ready

This is almost always caused by Windows XP SP2. You must have the cs7 updates for Protools 6.4 (or later) AND you must update your PACE drivers from the web (not the Digidesign CD.

where can i get them from .. thanks ..

and if anything does pro tools even support AMD 64X Dual Processor .. and are u sure
about this ..

Follow this from spkguitar's post .

Dual processors and dual core are supported only with Protools 7.0 and higher. Version 6.4 will only use one procssor/core but it should still work.

so u are saying if i get a AMD 64 non dual core processor it will work with my pro tools 6.4 ..

Nevermind, I'll just re-post them for you:
  1. Download and install 6.4
  2. Download and install the 6.4cs6 plugin update
  3. Download and install the 6.4cs9 program update
  4. Download and install the Documentation
  5. Download and install the latest PACE interlok drivers
  6. Make sure you trash your prefs and databases after updating (How To is mentioned in the General Troubleshooting thread).

man ur the [bleep] .. i downloaded the pace driver and the 6.4 cs9 update it works perfectly YESSSSSS ... IM SOOOO HAPPY .. THANKS SO MUCH ..
