Default External Hard Drive Issues-Can\'t Save New Tracks

I have PT 7.0 and keep getting an error message when I try to record new tracks to my
external hard drive (Lacie). ProTools can read my old sessions on the drive, which were recorded using 7.0, and I can edit
and save existing tracks, but I can't write to it, even though I could
before.

The specific message is "can't complete request because of
Assertion in "CNeolnode.cpp", line 1242. I checked Answerbase and it
wasn't helpful...just curious if you've ever encountered this problem
or something similar (oh, I reinstalled PT 7.0 and it didn't work). If
someone could help, that'd be great.

is your drive assigned to be record-enabled in the workspace?

I get an error along the lines of 'Not an Audio drive' or something.

I'm using a Micronet Hard Drive that Musician's Friend advertised as optimized for Pro-Tools.

I've been temporarily using the OS drive to finish up my current project...but, what am I doing wrong with the external?

have you reformatted the drive w/ Apple Disk Utility?

the drive is most likely formated NTFS

as to believing Musician's Fiend that is you fault

The original poster's problem may be a corrupted databases folder. Trashing the Digidesign Databases folder and restarting may fix that problem. For the musician's fiend buyer, you need to check out the thread at the top of the forum that deals with that error.
