Default Big Sur 11.6

I can’t seem to find any info about this being qualified for Pro Tools. I only see 11.5.2. Has anyone updated to 11.6. I’d like to keep current on this OS just in case with that ‘zero click’ malware that Apple was so adamant about everyone upgrading OS/iOS’s.

Of course it is not yet qualified as it just came out and there has not been a new PT release since. However, on my system I did not notice any problems. Biggest change was update to Safari 15 and it made tabs look horrible.

Ok thanks for that. There doesn’t need to be a new version of Pro Tools released for it to get qualified on 11.6 though. Only if something needed to be changed, right?

Always there need to be a new version so that they can say this version is qualified with that OS.

We have 11.6 on four new MacPros... 3 with HD Native and 1 with HDX2. There are some strange issues ONLY with the HDX cards as I've posted in this forum, but Avid is aware of it and checking further. Once ProTools has booted and 'woken' the HDX cards up, everything is fine.

Isn’t there a way to download the previous version from Apple, 11.5.2? I vaguely remember doing it a long time ago but I can’t seem to find a place to download that version now.

It's not really a killer issue... once ProTools loads and wakes up the HDX cards everything is fine. Avid has escalated this and given me a possible workaround, I just haven't had time to try it yet as I'm on location this next week.

Thanks for the reply.

The store is only allowing upgrades to the last point releases of legacy versions. Good if you need to go back to the previous version but not if you just want to go to a point release. These days I try to make sure I keep a copy of each version. When the installer launches quit and there should be a version stored on your computer in Applications. You can move it around, make a startup key or launch as normal.

Most versions available here:
Links are on a 3rd party site but the source files are from Apple.
