CPU Usage keeps resetting

So, I'm chronically running out of CPU power when editing my mixes. Yes, I have 12 or so tracks and several plug-ins, but the frustrating part is that I can usually play the mix once and it seems to break down the third or fourth time. If it played it the first time, why does it seem to break down?

So, I increase the CPU usage to 85%. Then it breaks down again. So, i go into to check it and it is back at 65%. Makes me wonder if part of my problem is that the CPU setting is not actually working?

I've got a Pentium, 2.4 ghz, 768 RAM, with a Firewire 7200 hard drive for the audio. It seems like a lot of computing power to break down so much.

I've followed most of the tweaks recommended on this site, so I'm wondering if it has something to do with my CPU, DAE buffer settings. (Although I feel like I've tried them all!!!)

It sounds like you are running reason or some other rewire app. When running a rewire app your cpu usage is automatically dropped to 65% in pt so that your other app can share some computing time.

I cannot answer the rest of your question, but if you are running rewire you are probly using a lot of system resources with that app, and that may be killing you.

the d-verb has a little big problems in PC with some intel chipsets...

i use reason rewired intoPT's and i'm able to have 85% on my cpu in PT's.When i use a malmstrom in reason cpu defaults back to 65%
