Soundcraft Inserts
I have the Soundcraft Fx8 board. I'm using the 8 direct outs to go to the 8 inputs on my 001. Does anyone know if the inserts go to the direct outs. There's no reason they shouldn't since the board has a selector switch for either pre or post fader direct outs (I'm currently running pre fader), but i know the board has some quirks like the internal effects don't go the direct outs. Just wanted to check before I invested in some outboard gear. Any help is appreciated.

Re: Soundcraft Inserts
You could check it out this way:
1) Play something into an input on the desk. 2) Monitor this input via the direct out into Pro Tools. 3) Stick a spare cable into to insert jack. Now, if this kills the signal feeding Pro Tools, then the insert must be 'pre direct out'. This means, with a proper 'insert' set-up, the outboard hardware will be included in the signal path. But, if Pro Tools continues to receive a signal, the insert must be 'post direct out'. This means you won't be able to incorporate your outboard hardware this way with Pro Tools. I'd be interested to know what the result is. Phil
