Protools 10 Network Environment
Hi everyone,
I work at a school and Im trying to deploy Protools 10 (any version) on a suite of computers. The issue is it will not load and displays a BEX error and crashes out, whenever I login with student credentials. Protools will however, login with local administrator account and even a standard domain user account. I obviously have group policy settings that are effecting Protools but I am unsure which ones maybe causing the issue if it that is the problem in the first place. I have tried turning off redirected folders (directing Documents, Music, Photos and Videos to network storage), but that doesn't seem to fix the problem. Are there any other schools out there that have successfully deployed protools? Thanks! |

Re: Protools 10 Network Environment
Its often helpful to right click the PT installer and "Run as administrator" when installing. The same holds true when launching it for the first time. You may want to right click the Pro Tools.exe file (the launch icon) and check the Run as administrator box.
That may help. Most of us are not trying to run Pro Tools on a academic or corporate network with restrictive group policy settings. Hopefully someone else can answer you better than I. Your saving any PT Audio to a local drive? There are certainly schools that have deployed PT in a lab environment.

Re: Protools 10 Network Environment
Thanks for the suggestions! I've been going at this all day and I think I've found the issue.
After manually removing all my policies one by one I had discovered that I turned off redirected folders, BUT not redirected desktop! As soon as I switched that off Protools worked a treat. Heaven knows why redirecting the desktop is an issue!? Thanks for your help! |

Re: Protools 10 Network Environment
Yeah pretty much. Couldn't think of the term last night as it was late. Not sure if that's the same thing as a redirected desktop or not.
