Re: I hate these Freakin Rack Plugins
I hate that too.
First insert - Console 1 - well, it's something different, I can put its software visual monitoring on one of my three display + there's a C1's hardware controller. I like it. Second insert - VMR Third - VBC Rack - well sometimes is ok combine all 3 comps Fourth - Soundtoys Rack. Hell great.... Fifth - Waves - obladioblada delicious 6th - Don't forget Magma, Patchwork, MB-7, etc... But... As my project, that is so sweet & gorgeous , rapidly grows to 50 tracks or more, full of C1, VMR, VBC, Waves, Magma, etc. marks + considering the fact that Artist Controllers or any other controllers can't properly cope with this... Well, no way I will ever support virtual rack concept. Call me an old fashioned dude, I won't care if you do that.

Re: I hate these Freakin Rack Plugins
Let's not forget Pro Tools 11 keyboard shortcuts like Shift C, D, E, V & W to disable/enable all EQs, Compressors, etc... at once in a session. They work fine when they are individual instantiations, but not when they get put in their respective racks.
Thank you plugin companies for taking away useful keyboard shortcuts. Maybe they will sell us a plugin to restore that function for their individual racks. How about Control+Command+Shift+C to disable & restore all compressors in Slate VMR and then Control+Option+D to disable & restore all compressors in Waves Studio Rack and on and on. Oh what fun.

Re: I hate these Freakin Rack Plugins
I'll have to add another +1 to the obvious and growing list of cons. I simply don't use them.

Re: I hate these Freakin Rack Plugins
Maybe Slate Batch Commander can restore some of the functionality that VMR rendered moot. Just buy more software!

Re: I hate these Freakin Rack Plugins
You're welcome.
Here is a list with more. (Keyboard shortcut & Effect category) Shift+A All Shift+2 Inserts A-E Be sure to select the track you want to control first. Shift+3 Inserts F-J Shift+C Dynamics Shift+D Delay Shift+E EQ Shift+V Reverb Shift+W Modulation Be sure to select the tracks you want to control first. It only works on selected tracks, which is also handy if you want to disable plugins on vocals only, etc...

Re: I hate these Freakin Rack Plugins
I guess this obsession with "vintage" has reached it's ludicrous conclusion :
We've all seen those vintage plate view cameras, where in order to see the image on the screen, you have to put your head under the dark cloth shroud... They've just applied that same "vintage" draw back to the mixing desk. Want to see which modules you have inserted in a particular rack slot? Take a look behind this virtual dark cloth. Next they'll be charging us a nickel, to sneak a peek. Vintage rules! |
