Default Why is there many HDX cards on Ebay? What's the catch?

Are all these HDX cards on Ebay a catch 22 deal where you receive no support or warranty from Avid?

If they are not registered - you're good to go for support/warranty etc.
Ask if they include a registration card.

Could be what is called 'grey market'. In the camera world that meant imported without manufacturer's usual means of support like US warranty and other goodies. Also know that there are no Avid authorized resellers on eBay. These could be such things as somebody got a hold of a bunch of seconds or rejects or they might even be a little 'hot'

The market is telling Avid what they should be doing IMO. Selling HDX cards, a la carte for about $5k (preferably a bit less).

Had they done this, AAX DSP would be a FAR more viable platform for 3rd party devs and enjoy a better adoption rate in the field.

+1

AAX DSP plugs are sorely lacking, and the jury's still out on whether or not there's enough HDX rigs out there in the wild for developers to even bother. (HDX is selling poorly by all accounts, and the lack of 64bit and DSP plugs is a big factor.)

Dealers sell on Ebay, but I don't think they are the ones selling these separately, because I don't think they're allowed to.

These are probably people buying bundles and then splitting them up.
