I didn't mean to suggest that a new controller would be the answer. More that it could be a next step (after this driver) to get everyone current on a controller that has much less of a chance of becoming obsolete. After you've upgraded to PT11.

We don't know what kind of trade-in program they'd be offering yet.

Again, for us and for my biz plan, it makes NO sense to replace our ProControl, the furniture that houses it, shut down our control room while we reconfigure our control room and think about possible needed changes in acoustics just to upgrade to ProTools 11. We love PT and plan on using it for many years to come. We have used it since 1997 and have always upgraded through MIX, ACCEL, HD etc but to drop money on HDX, PT 11 AND a new controller just won't happen in this era of falling budgets. We will sit on the sidelines and see what the market brings us and what makes sense for our company.

Of course, if ProControl continues to work this will change our thinking.

it is quite simple...the people who are directly affected by this marketing decision, for reasons of both loss of money and the need to rebuild their spaces around another controller, do not want to hear any analyses, justifications, excuses or explanations. They want and deserve drivers and full functionality. These controllers are big money. This decision was deliberate to hose these customers. Avid may have expected these people to run with open checkbooks to upgrade both PT and their controllers. UH UH. These drivers should be free, and I find it sad that Avid would put their top customers in a position to beg them to take $500 for a new fricken driver. POOR BUSINESS Practice. It is a no brainer that over the course of the history of new technology, the most revered companies and products are the ones that withstand the test of time and continue to work year after year. The ¨it's old¨ argument sux.

I didn't see this at the top and thought they deleted it.
Has anyone heard if they're going to support the Control/24?
I still waiting to see what happens before I make any purchase moves.
thanks

No word whatsoever. Avids ignorance and silence is a mockery

I just downloaded PT 11HD to demo and guess what? No can do. I have the old iLok and PT 11 won't work with it.
I can't demo.
If they don't get you with one thing it's another.

1. Can't use Blue iLok to even Demo PT 11
2. Can't use HD3 system
3. Can't use Control/24
4. Hopefully My Blue 192 will work with it. It's the only thing compatible. I think.!?

So...what's a fella suppose to do?
I can't even try the Demo without spending $50 for an iLok.

Lord help us lowly people.

I don't want to sound insensitive, but most of these things have been announced for a good while now, especially for the HD systems.

Guys please stay focus, this thread is to convince Avid that it is a win-win situation if they get the ProControl and Control24 drivers re-compiled to work in 64 bits.
