Pro Tools 8 crashing when I try to open a session or start a new session

I'm running Pro Tools 8 on a MacBook Pro with Snow Leopard and an old original Mbox. Everything was working fine, and now for some reason anytime I try to open a session or start a new session Pro Tools just crashes. I tried a clean uninstall and re-install and still it's the same thing. I've searched online in forums and it doesn't seem like anyone else is having this same issue. I really have no idea what to do. Any advice would be much appreciated, thank you!

Might want to check the compatibility link9look up on this page) as I don't think 8.0.1 works with Snow Leopard. And the old Mbox won't work with any later Pro Tools version Did you just update to SL?

I've been running Pro Tools 8 with Snow Leopard and my old Mbox since 2009. I do recall some compatibility issue at the beginning, but I think I just had to install some drivers or something and everything has been running good up until now. I'm just not sure what happened. One day it was working, the next day Pro Tools wouldn't even open. I clicked to open it and the icon would bounce for a bit, then just stop and not open. So I ran some updates (which admittedly I had been ignoring for a while) and I thought that would fix it. Now Pro Tools will open, but if I try to open a session or start a new session it just crashes.

If you did all of your free updates, that means you're probably on PT LE 8.0.5 now, right? Unfortunately, that means the original MBox is no longer supported.
If you can go back to 8.0.3 you should be OK, I think.
Check the compatibility grid above to see which version will work with the original MBox.

Well, 8.0.1 is the end of the line for the original Mbox, but there is one person that claims to have it working with 9 using some 3rd party driver. Good luck on that
