Default Word clock question

Being not well versed in this subject, I would like to ask a question. I have Mytek stereo AD and Apogee mini DAC. I want Mytek to be my master clock. If I connect Mytek to SPDIF in and Apogee to SPDIF out and set the sync in PTLE to SPDIF, will Mytek become the master clock ? Will Apogee connection not interfere with it ?
