Instrument Tracks don't receive MIDI (but MIDI tracks do)

Another annoyed user here. Happens at random times on different systems, seemingly without rhyme or reason for many a year now.

I have a handful of Instrument tracks per song but I can imagine this is a royal pain in the buttocks for those with many tracks in the average scoring Session.

I can appreciate this could be hard to track down the issue but Avid have had years now and there is no sign of it being fixed. Just another reason for weary users to leave the fold.

As I noted I don't use midi tracks, I use instrument tracks (even with multi output VI's like drums)
But I have definitely if only occasionally, experienced an instrument track randomly not outputting audio upon opening a session with midi already recorded on it,,,, but if I remember correctly I have simply closed the session and reopened to fix it .....

This very rarely works for me. It typically reopens in the same, broken state.

I get this once every few weeks too, and echo what was previously said, that in large orchestrations you may not notice that one track is not playing, and that is not professional.

What if that happened with audio? Random clips not playing. I'll bet Avid would get on it in a heartbeat.

It would be nice if Avid had a coder who could fix this (and did).

Well it happens so rarely for me, I am only guessing , my memory is not stellar.

But I think maybe one time I may have simply copied the midi and selected the VI as a preset > Made a new Instrument track pasted the midi, and launched the VI with the preset.
But I agree it should not be happening at all, much less with any regularity

I have had this problem for so long, the only way for me to work now is to use a different DAW and then bounce to files and mix in PT, but PT as a composing tool is frustrating, and now with the latest release I have all sorts of graphic weirdness

I get this weird thing happening randomly on my system as well. AVID YOU SHOULD FIX THIS BASIC RECALLING FUNCTION ! And for those who say it's not a so big problem then you must barely use Inst.Tracks or maybe just 1 or 2 in each session.
