Just a headsup...

SSL Bus Compressor on sale until the end of the week - for a very reasonable £29 (ex VAT). (Approx $22 before taxes).

I was just going to post this. I was an early adopter of Duende (PCIe version) and they've been incredibly fair with the pricing and support of their plugins - free crossgrade from hardware to native as well as making IMHO the best SSL emulations.

The best emulation of their digital console, not the analog desks. Supposedly the code was taken directly from it.

Also, it's $39.

I heard it was a 9000 emulation, (rather than Waves' 4000 emulation). Either way, it still sounds way better to my ears, (& I've used the Waves version extensively). Perhaps it's a little cleaner, but much better stereo imaging, & tighter response.

$39 still seems a steal to me, (usually it's us Europeans who get burnt by the exchange rate)!!

I will probably pass as well. I already have several SSL EQ options, and several emulations of their compressors. I don' think I would end up using it either.

Me too... (as I've already had it for a few years).... & still lovin' it!!

I think there's better options out there for limiters, but as a bus compressor, it's hard to beat, (especially if you've been privilideged enough to use the real thing).

I think it takes a while for people to get their head around an SSL comp - sometimes it only takes a little to create that magic, & it's quite easy to make it sound bad if heavy handed, (unless intentional)!!
