Default James Horner

I'm a bit late to learn, but not less saddened, of the passing of the great film composer James Horner. (plane crash, 22 June 2015) I am thankful for what he accomplished and his music will live on.

Yes, a major loss.

I always really loved the score for Battle Beyond The Stars (and the movie is a terrific guilty pleasure, by far the best of the Seven Samurai remakes).

I also really loved the fact that during the scene in Aliens, where Michael Biehn & Sigourney Weaver make a hasty retreat in to a lift, James Horner makes a direct reference to his previous score for the exact same scene in Wolfen, where Albert Finney & Dianne Venora make an equally hasty escape in a lift.

Still can't believe he wrote, and recorded the entire score for Aliens in two weeks (and that was only because he was too busy with other projects to have any more time available).
