Default bouncing tracks/bussing tracks

hi,
new to protools and it's been awhile since i did real studio work. i wasn't an expert then but i knew some basic recording techniques. some escaped me.

so now i'm trying to figure out how to take either multiple tracks and bounce them to a single track .....or how to take the mix of a single track which i used the automation feature on and bounce that to another single track as a recording of the the track with automation....

or........ what is the difference between bussing and bouncing...

please excuse me for my stupidity.

hi,
thanks for the reply.

i had tried that before i posted but i went through and tried it again

for some reason i am not getting any signal in the track i'm bussing to. i'm selecting bus to the selected track from the output selectors of the tracks to be recorded and inputing bus from the selected tracks but i get no signal.

am i missing something?

Not sure why its not working. Try this. On the track you want to record/bounce/bus(whichever) set that track's output to an open bus(mono or stereo, depending on the source). Create a new audio track(again, mono or stereo as is the source) and select the input as the same bus. Put the track in record and go. If you are getting no meter reading on the new recording track, check to make sure you don't have Input-Only monitoring enabled.
