Default Pro Tools 7 & RTAS Instruments not working

Hi
I seem to be having a problem with pro tools 7 and rtas instruments. The spectrasonics atmosphere and trilogy, as well as native Komplete 2 do not produce any sound in 7.

Any ideas or advice. I already havethe latest available updates.

Hi,

You have to ensure that the Instrument or Aux that has the Trilogy etc. inserted has an input selected. Such as "ADAT 1 in" or "Analog 4 in" or the like. It won't make a sound without an input selected..

All the best,

Big D

This is the 4th new post this week on this topic. I guess Digidesign expected that people would read the "readme" before they started working with new software?

Digi - this question probably deserves a sticky until 7.0.1 - I can only imagine the number of support calles you guys are getting on this one issue.

from the PT7 readme:

Quote:
Software Instrument Does Not Emit Sound when Inserted on an Instrument Track or Auxiliary Input (Item #65797)

Some software instruments will not emit sounds and will not play unless they have a valid hardware input or MIDI output
assignment. If this occurs, manually assign a hardware input to the Instrument track or Auxiliary Input, and/or manually as-
sign a MIDI output to the Instrument.

Your wish is my command.

Just another friendly reminder to read the manual or, at the very least, the Read Me files that are installed with the Pro Tools 7 upgrade. They have all kinds of useful info....

Hi Guys

thanks for the coments.
I actually found the solution on the duc yesterday after I'd posted the note.
The readme files explain qite clearly and I was very relieved to find the solution. (I was dreading the thought of having to downgrade again after so much anticipation)
thanks again

hi a have the same problem whith RTAS/instrument in PROTOOLS 7.
i talked whith dan santucci at nativ instrument and he said that this.. is an issu of ProTools backwards compatibility whith older RTAS plug/ins.Only new RTAS instrument will allow monitoring on AUDIO tracks.

...why don't you use an Instrument track, instead of an Audio track?
And more, what instrument are you trying to use that isn't working?

Best Regards,
John

Some RTAS stuff is very stabile. Impact! and NI's B4 II, the M-Audio stuff demonstrate to me that it's really a third party issue...and some seem better than others. Arturia is one of the worst, the more so because their stuff sounds cool...I have been unable to use ANY of their VI's without constant crashes...CS80, with its' so-called PT7 version is completely out of the question. MOTU is a little better...Symphonic instrument's new rev seems OK, Mach5 is so-so. You need to reduce buffer sizes to cut the midi stuff, then raise it to help with stability. I wish there was at least some third-party standard for RTAS, some developer guidelines...and i wish that companies like Arturia would FIX what they've got before rushing to make new, broken instruments.
