note hangs on after playback stopped

Okay, new to this game, I just stopped playback and a bass instrument track kept hanging on gradually fading out after about 30 seconds. What causes this and how do you correct it?

Was a sustain pedal used in the performance? Sometimes it holds the note if you stop playback when the sustain pedal is depressed..

Possibly, but it was a bass part, maybe I inadvertently had my foot on the sustain pedal, out of habit. I guess that would show up somewhere in the midi information?

Not sure, just a guess! But this has been the cause a few times when it's happened to me..

Yeah, you can have a look in the drop down box at the bottom of the MIDI Editor window, "sustain" should be an option and you can see if there's any performance data written there.
