Default Nvidia Only?

Is this just recommended or is there something more insidious going on? I have an expensive ATI card that works great with my PT 8, so why wouldn't it work with 9. Is it just because they only tested Nvidia cards? I don't want to buy a new card just to run PT 9. Anyone know the scoop?
Thanks,

Jer.

Thats just the ones they tested. They cant possible test all of them and say Yea or Nay on every card out there. Your card will be fine.

Side note, I believe AMD is dropping the ATI brand name soon and just going with AMD video card. Thats what i heard anyway. Not that it has anything to do with your question

Thanks for the quick reply. I thought it sounded strange and I know they can't test all cards, it just seems weird to say only Nvidia cards are supported in their info.

That is correct. After the Years' End, ATI will be no more.

And here I was hoping for eventual CUDA support when reading about Nvidia GPUs being preferred... please, Avid?

I have PT 9 running on my rig, and I've got an ATI HD4850. Worked with PT 8 M-Powered, no change with PT 9.

Haven't used my nVidia card in a while, but I never had any problems when I switched.

My MacBook Pro also has ATI inside, and I'm running Snow Leopard with PT9 on that as well with no problems.

That thought had come to mind also but why not use something like OpenCL thats hardware inert? Other than CUDA having some inertia with the boffins in the science community
