Default Best guess for ADC

I recently put in a super-lowball "why not?" bid on a used Focusrite Liquid Mix on eBay and, to my surprise and delight, I won the auction for $36. I already have some quality plugs that I like (McDSP Project Studio), but for $36 -- geeze, I just couldn't help myself. Which leads to my question...

Is there anyone on these boards who has even the vaguest, most ambiguous, sort-of, halfway, marginal, under-the-table "insider" information on whether the next retail Pro Tools release (be it 8.5 or 9.0 or whatever they decide to call it) will include ADC? If not, does anyone even have a best guess?

I think the hands-on control and reduced CPU load of the Liquid Mix might be cool, but the Firewire roundtrip adds considerable latency. I just don't think I'm up for inserting delay onto every track (even an automated process like Mellowmuse ATA) and keeping it all in sync. I barely get any time in my studio as it is and already feel like I spend too much of it "tweaking".

If the general consensus is that ADC is still a ways off, I may just turn around and re-eBay the Liquid Mix, hopefully making a few bucks in the process. As I said, I'm happy with the McDSP stuff. If I do sell the Liquid Mix, I would at least like to A/B compare the compressor emulations that are common between the two products to see which I prefer (LA-2A, 1176, Fairchild 670, Manley Variable mu, and dbx 165 are represented in both). I might even post the audio if anyone would be interested in hearing it.

I appreciate any legitimate insight or blind-ass wild guesses. :)

Well if they dont at least make it a paid option, alot of people will ditch pro tools. Probably including myself.

Nice steal BTW, we paid a few bills for ours :@

The new year may bring some good news, but we shall see. Meanwhile, you can start using the LM right away with one of 2 simple tricks. For a small session of up to 32 audio tracks, just insert it on every track. Now all will have the same latency and stay aligned(you might need to nudge VI tracks later a bit. The other solution would be to use it where you like(up to 30 tracks), create a stereo AUX track, insert it on there(with no parameter adjustments) and simply change the output of any track NOT using the insert and send it thru the aux. Once again, all should be in alignment(just don't try to use the LM while tracking).

We've seen a lot of new offerings from Avid lately, and I bet we'll see even more between now and Winter NAMM in January.

Two years ago in December, PT 8.0 was released. It's usually around that time of year that we see a big release in the 4th quarter. ADC would definitely be a money maker, as it's been the number one feature request of all time. They would be absolutely insane not to have it in their next major release. Let's see what happens between now and NAMM.
