• Audio dropouts/artifacts in 10.15.7 and 11.2.3; Resolved in future Big Sur release (PT-268800)
• No Audio Output over AVB; Resolved in future Big Sur release (PT-268662)
• Unable to create Session at new Sample Rate; Resolved in future Big Sur release (PT-265729)
• No Audio device in Audio Midi Setup; Resolved in future Big Sur release (PT-268874)
• "Cannot Communicate with Playback Engine"; Resolved in future Big Sur release (PT-268881)

.
Kyle,

What version of MacOS is recommended now? MacOS 11.3 is meant to have fixed that list of bugs and yet the supported OS on the Carbon page (https://avid.secure.force.com/pkb/ar...s#requirements) say only 10.15.7 and 11.2.3 are supported.
But the PT 2021.6 release page (https://avid.secure.force.com/pkb/ar...m-Requirements) says "Pro Tools | Carbon is supported with Pro Tools 2021.6 on M1 Macs running macOS 11.3" - no mention of Intel Macs.
The Big Sur knowledgebase page (https://avid.secure.force.com/pkb/ar...ig-Sur-Support) also says that 11.2.3 is the version to use with Carbon and PT 2021.6

So, has the advice in your post (quoted) been withdrawn and we should not use 11.3 unless on an M1 Mac?

Thanks

Dominic

What version of MacOS is recommended now for Intel Mac and Carbon and 2021.6?

MacOS 11.3 is meant to have fixed a long list of bugs and yet the supported OS on the Carbon page (https://avid.secure.force.com/pkb/ar...s#requirements) says only 10.15.7 and 11.2.3 are supported.

The PT 2021.6 release page (https://avid.secure.force.com/pkb/ar...m-Requirements) says "Pro Tools | Carbon is supported with Pro Tools 2021.6 on M1 Macs running macOS 11.3" - no mention of Intel Macs.

The Big Sur knowledgebase page (https://avid.secure.force.com/pkb/ar...ig-Sur-Support) also says that 11.2.3 is the version to use with Carbon and PT 2021.6

I don't think I'm being obtuse - I really can't work out what is the recommended choice. Any help please?

Dominic

Hi Dominic,

I see the confusion. We'll work on making it clear on the Carbon Support page. The supported macOS versions with Intel Macs and Carbon are: 10.15.7, 11.3, and 11.4.
