Hey fountain of youth, I just got my Pro Tools and I'm not able to get it to pair with my Focusrite 18i8 2nd Gen. I have the latest driver and Focusrite control. Pro Tools recognizes the 18i8 in the Hardware, playback engine, and I/O options.
Is there anything else I can try?

Let me clarify, I have selected the input 1 that pairs with the mic that is plugged into my Audio interface. I hear sound but the level meter is not aroused on the software and I cannot record

I'm not using a secondary hard drive. Is that the problem?

also, I have Mac OS Mojave 10.14.3 .
Can someone please let me know if this will work?

I'm not on mac anymore but from what i've read here you should be able to, and from posts ive seen here it sounds like you may have to change aggregate settings or some other mac specific settings. I would recommend looking at the Mac sub forum for answers/suggestions.

Hi so I fixed this problem but it had nothing to do with I/O or system engine.

So ANYONE who has Mojave as the OS on Mac must go to

System Preferences
security and privacy
and on the left select microphone. Then- make sure Pro tools is selected too allow the apps to access your Microphone
