Setup: Win7 PC, Scarlett 18i8 (1st Gen), and PT12.8.3, typically running at 48kHz and 24b. New with PT12.8.3, dashboard shows "Sample rate" grayed out and equal to "48 KHz (Ext. Clock)". Never seen this greyed out, and never seen "Ext. Clock" spelled out.
Problem (new with 12.8.3): MIDI notes on instrument tracks play approximately half step flat. Not exactly half a step off. Does not matter which virtual instrument. No controller; notes entered thru MIDI editor. Possibly mismatch between sample rate and MIDI clock? Solution might be to select the correct clock in "hardware setup", but Focusrite ASIO control panel does not provide this option. Workaround would be to adjust MIDI pitch, but it's not exactly half step flat. Suggestions appreciated. Ed |

Hi friend !
Do you have installed the Focusrite Scarlett Mix Control . Maybe there you can find the sample rate options there . https://us.focusrite.com/downloads?p...18i8+first+gen See page 31 of the scarlett 1818 first gen user guide : ![]()

Thanks Jesus. Yes, I am running Mixcontrol, and the sample rate is set at 48 kHz. But I understand that the sample rate and the MIDI clock are two different things. The MIDI clock is apparently slow, since the notes are flat.

A known issue with Scarlett interfaces on Windows is that you shouldn't use the Scarlett as your Windows audio device at the same time as using it via ASIO driver with pro software. If you are using the Scarlett as your Windows audio device, go into the Windows audio settings and change it back to the onboard audio device.

Thanks James. The Scarlett is my primary Windows audio device. I have never noticed any problems before PT 12.8, but I will try this and see what happens.
