xpand2 no sounds

Hi,

I'm new to this community.

I have used Pro Tools many years ago and was using logic over the time. Now I recently installed pro tools 2024,10 (latest). Everything is working except Xpand2. There is just no sound coming out from it. All my other plugin works (in the same track as well).

All my connections and outputs are correct. I worked with Logic Pro without changing anything and with no problems at all. Does anyone have an idea what the problem might be?

Hi. Are there any errors and are there no presets on the xpand!2 loaded?
Can you share a screen shot or screen recording of your xpand!2 workflow?

Welcome to the DUC!

Xpand!2 audio is working fine here on Windows in Pro Tools 2024.10.2

Xpand!2 Installer lets you install both the Plug-In and its Content (Xpand!2's 'BIG' File)

In Pro Tools > View > Mixed Window View, tick ‘Instruments’

At the top of Xpand!2 on the Mix page, just under ‘INSTRUMENT’ - set the MIDI Input Selector to ‘All’ and set the MIDI Output Selector for Xpand!2 (below: MIDI Chain) to Individual Targets > Xpand!2 > Channel 1 etc.

Insert one Instrument Track + 4 MIDI Tracks, as shown in this 5-year-old video:

OK so I am just going to go a quick check list some of this may be obvious and you may already know it or have done it

Now to clarify you say all your other plugins are working.. does that mean other VI instrument plugins or does that mean other FX plugins (since you say same track as well"

If other Vi instruments are working then I would guess it's a corrupt download of XPand

If it's other FX plugins THEN
Assuming you are using an "Instrument" track
So first
#1 XPand 2 should by default open to this and the little power button should be on for the Slot number 1 patch



#2 Since you are using your MK1 S61 keyboard make sure it is showing and selected/checked in PT -Setup > MIDI > "MIDI Input Devices "---(My Keyboard is the MPK 249)




#3 In PT Settings > Midi > make sure "MIDI Input Monitoring follows selected track" -- is checked



#4 in PT Options > make sure "MIDI Thru" is checked




Then it's should be just a mater selecting to highlight the instrument track with XPand on it

Another Xpand!2 tip from Production Expert's Russ Hughes:

Control Automation with Encoder – set to 4 Encoders to CC111, CC112, CC113, CC114.

Right-click on any LEVEL Fader – select Learn MIDI CC

@K Roche, thanks a lot for your efforts! I think I have found the issue. I have uploaded a PDF. So there no sounds loaded in expand, even when I select different sounds which is quite strange.

Seems that the presets are not loaded. You can try reinstalling the Xpand!2 plugin by downloading a fresh copy from your my.avid.com/products#myproducts page or via the Avid Download Center inside my.avid.com.
Try disabling your antiviruses/firewall before proceeding if on Windows.
