Default 2023.3 "Tab to Breakpoint" feature is killing me: Need to Turn it Off
Hi all -

How to disable ”tab to breakpoint” in PT 2023.3?
There are no controls to turn it off.

Working while viewing automation is very obtrusive for those of us who ride faders.

A little more on that:
I regularly edit while mixing. Baked into my muscle memory over using PT for 20 years, I hit "tab" to move to the end of the clip. Now suddenly my edit cursor is "snagging" on breakpoints; this is totally disruptive.

We need a pref to turn it off.
Right away... it's s serious showstopper.

Preferences - EDITING tab - on the left i think :)

Page 124 of Pro Tools ref.

It drove me insane as well :)

I don't think you can switch it unfortunately. It's a new feature that is causing havoc.

I'm not sure what you are referring to with the EDITING tab in preferences.

Go to preferences. And then to the Editing tab - you can switch it of there
Or read the Pro Tools Reference Guide Page 124

SETUP MENU
THEN PREFERENCES (right at the bottom of the SETUP MENU
Once you opened that you will see a screen with 9 Tabbed pages on top
Click on Editing Tab
Deselect "Double-click Selects Automation Breakpoints"

Sorry Jeremiah - I had the wrong end of the stick
2 Different things. I open the automation in a seperate lane sinde the 2023.3 to get past that one - but they should give us the option!

Just stumbled into that too. Would be nice to being able to disable this "feature". It is not in preferences

I reported, along with others. I was given a case number.

They are totally working on it. Your guess of when they release a fix for the issue is as good as mine.

But they do know about it. They are working on it!

I gave additional advice that forward communication on such issues would alleviate the frustrations that are obviously resounding in the messages above.

Wait... does it happen when you are in waveform view? That would be terrible. Or is it only when you have an automation lane visible?

Can we add the new double click to select between breakpoints feaure to that list..... Also extremely annoying.
