RTAS TrueVerb making crackles?
hi all.
running a handful of TrueVerbs in my mix session, all running RTAS since i just have the native waves bundle. almost all other plugs are on the TDM cards. the TrueVerb that's handling my dialog rooms is giving me some unhappy crackly artifacts. i only noticed it in the mix on one rather loud shouted line with a big long empty-church type verb. but if i crank the return, i can hear the sizzle lightly most of the time. its in the "reverb" component only - you can hear it kick in after the predelay, and indeed if i turn the reverb component off (leaving only ERs), it is gone. anything i can do in my setup to correct this? i've tried raising the RTAS up to 4 processors 99%, tried all possible buffer, cache etc settings, to no avail. if i could pop it into TDM to test i would, but i don't own the TDM so i can't. HD2 accel, MacPro quad 2ghz, 2gb ram, pt 7.4 cs3, os10.4, waveshell 5.9.1 thanks for any thoughts! adam

Re: RTAS TrueVerb making crackles?
Does it go away if you disable one or more of the other Trueverbs?
Does it happen in other sessions with a similar plug-in load? Are you sure you're not clipping somewhere? |

Re: RTAS TrueVerb making crackles?
thanks tech support for the quick reply!
goes not go away when disabling other trueverbs, haven't tested on another session, no clips indicated anywhere, and this sounds more like digital noise artifacts than clipped audio... i have more or less the same verb loaded on another track for my effects in the same scene and its not having the same problem. i'm going to try recreating the dia verb track from scratch just to see if that helps. any other thoughts appreciated! adam

Re: RTAS TrueVerb making crackles?
looks like i've got it solved, or at least avoided for now.
i started checking the plugs on my dialog bus (aux input), and bypassing the de-esser eliminated the problem. by unlinking the 5 channels (its multi-mono), and setting it so only the C channel is de-essing, it eliminates the crackle from the other channels. not sure why the de-esser was creating artifacts way up above where its working (2k), but i guess it was... thanks adam
