Default RTAS instruments hang every few hours!

I'm working on a 2 x 2.8 GHz Quad Mac running on OS 10.5.4 (Leopard)
HD3 with PT 7.4.2cs1 and all my plugins are up to date.

However been having crazy issues with RTAS instruments
Mostly with Spectrasonics RMX and PlugSoundPro.
Every couple of hours they hang and I would have to close and reopen these instruments to be able to continue working.
Have done all the troubleshooting procedures but still no go
Any further inputs or tips?

Start by taking those two plug-ins out of your folder and see if PT works fine with the rest. Insert a couple of extra normally used RTAS instruments to fill the load after that if it fails.

I doubt if this matters at this point but how much RAM do you have?

Thanks Scott,
I have 4GB of RAM and when I do film scores RMX and PlugSoundPro instruments are the most used ones.

Hey Limin,

ALways welcome, especially if I even get some stuff right once and a while. Let me know if the problem goes away if you take out those two plug-ins and it works. Then put one back in and see if things run. You'll quickly find out if you have a corrupted plug-in. If you have just made a jump in PT or OS in the last few days, then I can almost garuntee that this is a high probability for a plu-in issue of either being corrupted or out of date and in need of upgrade. Your 4 gigs is decent and shouldn't be causing a problem. Sounds like we do some similar stuff.

I would check that ALL installed plug-ins are compatible - even if you're not using them in a session they can cause problems with Pro Tools.

Do you know for sure that PlugSoundPro is compatible with Leopard and Pro Tools 7.4.2?

For PlugSoundPro I installed the new UVI v1.09 engine which is supposed to be compatible with Leopard (as stated here).
It is still problematic, I took it out of the plug-ins folder, all is good now.

I would start going through your plug-ins folder and removing any plug-ins that do not show up specifically on our grid, then test again. I would start with that PlugSoundPro.

It's extremely likely that you have an incompatible plug-in installed and, even if you're not using them in the session, they can cause problems in Pro Tools.
