Default Is the iMac 3.06GHz Intel Core i3 enough...

I have a Mac Pro 2.26 Nehalem 8 cores, and I've been debating getting a slave computer to run VEPro. I've been thinking about the iMac 2.93GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7, but is it really necessary?

Will the iMac 3.06GHz Intel Core i3 be enough to run 3 or 4 VEPro instances?

Thanks!

Wrong subforum. Should be in the Virtual Instruments subforum.

I initially saw that, but this isn't a question about VI's. It concerns the iMac 3.06 GHz. If there's a sub-forum for computers, I'll gladly make the switch.

Actuaslly it IS a question about vi's. And it certainly isn't a question about PT HD which by definition can't be run on an iMac. There is a general discussion forum. This should go there.

Hi Dean

I think it does belong here for the simple reason that PT can not handle VI's under its own skin and VEP seems to be the most reliable and possibly only workaround. Hopefully Jeremy and a couple of the the other users will chime in here. Spare me the forum evangelists, this is a PT HD issue, maybe we should ban threads on expansion chassis, canopus, etc issues too.

According to this it is. And to quash the argument of where this topic should be. It should be here.

Hi Denis,

I agree, this belongs here. I don't think the others understand. This isn't a post about plug ins, it's about including a second computer to the mix.

I'm looking into buying something and thought the iMac 27" Quad might do the trick. But I'm wondering if I have to spend $2500 w/ram, or can I get decent results with a 3.06GHz.

I hope others chime in.

Thanks!
