advice for home mbox system, monitoring soultion.

I've been consolidating my gear at home, essentially eliminating the need for a rack. I used to use a presonus central station to monitor my mbox2. It really was too much and I wanted something smaller. I figured I could use the monito section on the mbox. I knew it wouldn't be great, but I didn't expect it to be as bad as it is. I now need a small desktop monitor control, preferably with a DAC built in, but the list seems to be short. Has anyone have any recomendations? The only viable options I can seem to find are the Presonus Monitor control, Mackie Big Knob and TC Electronic BMC-2. I really only need to monitor the one source and talkback isn't needed.

perhaps use an old cheap stereo receiver with digital inputs. use the remote for control.
