Unable to locate digidesign hardware?

Lately I've been having an issue with my digi002 rack. For some reason, when it's powered up, all of a sudden, the mute button will go on, the green lights (for MIDI and sample rate) turn off, and I get an error message that ProTools is "unable to locate Digidesign hardware".

I hear what sounds like a click from inside the 002 when this happens. Sometimes it unmutes itself and the green lights go back on, but within seconds, it mutes itself again. When I press the mute button, nothing happens.

Does anyone know what's going on?

Power Harness Problem? It sounds like like the power is reseting.

Absolutely the power harness. It's off to authorized service land for you. MANY of us with 002's have gone through this. It's endemic to certain production runs apparently. I shipped mine out and it was back inside 5 days. I used the center in Florida, fast and helpful. As long as you are registered it should be a free fix no matter how long you have had it - factory's fault.
